When is an air ambulance needed?

At Rico Aviation, we provide quality air ambulance care to patients in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. We want to discuss when an air ambulance is needed, and how we are committed to delivering the best possible services for you and your family.

What is an air ambulance?

An air ambulance is a critical care aircraft designed specifically to transport patients who are too ill to travel long distances by ground vehicles like ambulances. They are equipped with state of the art medical equipment to ensure the safety of their patients during the flight. For example, Rico Aviation’s aircrafts carry Zoll X-Series Cardiac Monitors and Hamilton T1 Transport Ventilators. For more information about the equipment Rico Aviation provides, you can visit the air ambulance page on our website.

When is an air ambulance needed?

Air ambulances transport patients for two reasons: they need specialized care, or they need care the hospital they are currently checked into cannot provide them. Some examples of specialized care include cancer treatment, burn care, head and spinal cord injury, and strokes.

Why trust Rico Aviation?

As stated on our Frequently Asked Questions page, Rico is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems. With this accreditation, Rico is held to a higher standard than is required by most other states. Less than 200 aero medical services in the world currently hold this certification, and we are one of them.

Rico maintains a responsible and friendly service for everyone who needs us. As S. H. states in her testimonial about our services, we “were very nice and caring” and “made [them] feel very comfortable….being in a situation like [they] were.”
