As a fixed wing air ambulance company, the love of flight is in our blood. Each member of our Rico family is proud to be able to provide top notch health care in such a unique and important setting. We understand flying isn’t in everyone’s comfort zone but we are here to make the trip and the care provided during that trip, as calm as possible! Our hope is that, after flying with us, your next flight in a plane is one of enjoyment rather than necessity. With that said, we’ve compiled this list of destinations in our own backyard that we love and hope each of you gets the chance to experience as you travel!

Take a flight to the Natural Bridge Cavern and experience the beautiful formations and creations made by our very own earth. Not only are there multiple tours you can adventure on, but you can journey into a Maze or become a miner discovering wonderful hidden gems. Next door to the cavern is one of the world’s largest bat emergencies where you can see the true value of living nature.

Texas State Capitol in Austin

Austin is home to the Texas State Capital, a site which you can tour daily. Austin is a beautiful, eclectic inland city bordering the rolling Texas Hill Country. Austin also fuels the University of Texas Longhorns. This culture filled city is known for its live music scene and diverse rituals. When you are not creating art on the graffiti wall or experiencing paddle boarding down the lake, make sure to take a break and try Austin’s famous food trucks. Everyone is craving the homemade Thai Tea Ice Cream nowadays. Austin has many parks and lakes that are great for socially hiking, biking, fishing, and boating. If you get too hot over the summer, you can cool off at Jacob’s Well or the all-natural Barton Springs Pool. If the day doesn’t fulfill your entertainment needs, there is always more fun involved with the rustic and energetic nightlife to come of your trip.

San Antonio is another great city to visit in Texas full of timeless colonial heritage you are certain to soak up during your stay. The Alamo is an 18th century Spanish Mission that is now preserved as a museum for anyone to see. It is the site of the 1836 battle for Texas Independence from Mexico. Along with this historical attraction is the River Walk that lined with cafes and shops. Events spark up daily to remind you of the culture and heritage the city was founded upon. Two other main attractions are Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. They are very family oriented and incorporate learning with fun and adventure.

If you wish to find your perfect adventure flying to Houston, you will not be disappointed. This large city is fast paced and moved by the advances from NASA. NASA is also known as the Space Center of Houston where you can travel into space and endure many simulations that allow you to pilot your own space shuttle, learn about the technology used in space and on Earth, visit the Smithsonian museum, meet real-life astronauts and hear their traveling stories, and see a Space Shuttle even built before your own eyes. Another entertaining attraction is to go fishing and experience Kemah Board-Walk. There is food and musical entertainment almost every day along with rides and attractions. When you are wanting a more low-key day in Houston you can visit Discovery Green and eat at a luxurious restaurant downtown. Also, there are multiple Museums to visit along with the famous Houston Zoo.

If you are interested in West Texas Skies and great hiking, Big Bend National Park is a great destination to fly to. With temple-like canyons and ancient limestone beauty, you will never be disappointed. There is also lodging and camping available to all tourist who wants to soak up more nature by stargazing at night. You most likely will choose to hike or bird watch on your adventure into the canyon. However, what better way to have a unique travel experience than by horseback? If you get tired of walking or riding, experience the canyon by going on a river trip or scenic drive.
